Planetside was recently announced in an interview conducted by Daily Radar. The interview created a lot of hype within the FPS genre, as it was to finally expand the genre into an area where only RPG's have ventured in past years. A persistent online world where a user could be winning a fight, and when they come back the entire world has changed due to in game politics, and attacks on various cities.
Planetside Shuttle is pleased to be one of the first fan sites online devoted to the title, and has opened it's doors to the community. The site contains every drop of information released thus far, and will continue to do so after the games release.

As part of our opening we have produced v1.0 of our FAQ devoted to the title and it can be found at:

The site is going to be very unique, and will have an actual back story to the sites creation. We look forward to your fan fiction, and are glad to be part of such an awesome community.

1. Will everybody's favourite maps from Tribes be converted over to Tribes 2?

2. Will trees and plantlife burn?

3. When people are set on fire by plasma they should run around screaming as in syndicate.

4. Wazzzzzzzzup added to the chat menu with more voice sets and cusses.

5. Are maps that are just covered in water with floating bases be possible?

6. Will there still be the annoying clipping distance that stopped long range sniping be there, oor will it be possible to disable it on high en comps that can take it?

7. Will there is full joystick and throttle support for the aircraft?

8. Will maps still have an upper limit to them?

9. Will there be support for 2 monitors (e.g. the G400) and have the main view on one and the command screen or inventory screen or a rear view camera on the other?

10. Smoke grenades - hides you, laser rifle looses power through the smoke and the targeting laser doesn't work through it.

11. Weather - have wind to blow clouds across the sky, block out the sun or moon, blow mortars and smoke, make it harder to fly in aircraft.

12. Night vision goggles for night missions - eats up energy and can only be used by certain armours.

13. Better anti flood in the chat window - kicks for continually flooding.

14. changing night and day depending on the server time - in the morning the sun(s) and at night the moon(s) comes out, random wheather features, standing on top of a hill in metal armour in a storm = bad idea.

1) Nope. The engine is completely different. Those maps would have to be recreated from scratch. We built new ones instead. Besides...aren't you tired of those maps yet? ; )

2) Not currently. Maybe though.

3) Lol. No. We don't have giblets either.

4) Definitely not. You folks must not be as sick of that as we are.

5) Yes.

6) Some of our maps have VERY long visual ranges. Some have very close ones. It depends.

7) Joystick yes, throttle no.

8) Yes. This isn't implemented yet, but we're planning to have the "ceiling" act like thin atmosphere so that aircraft sort of lose power and can't ascend any further and then stall out.

9) No two monitor support is planned.

10) Smoke has WAY too many polygons. Let's figure on 400-500 polygons for a nice thick field. Now multiply that by six grenades per person adn 10 people on a team. ACK! TOO MANY POLYS! So we decided not to do it until next year. ; )

11) Clouds move, wind blows particles around, stormfronts move in across the map, but it doesn't effect aircraft...yet.

12) We keep discussing that one...but it's definitely not going to make it into the box this time.

13) Not kicks...but we hard mute people if they're too annoying with flooding. We will *never* have an "autokick" feature in Tribes. You human-types have to kick other humans.

14) Missions aren't long enough (20 minutes) for day/night switching. We considered it, but opted out on it.
