Centuries ago, a war broke out amongst the Elders and the Overlords.
The Elders created an elite force, called the Order of the Dragon Talon, to
defend their worlds from the impending invasion. All of the members of this
order were bound by their honor to serve those they fought beside, until
death.
At first, the Order pushed back the Overlords minions, but they
proved far too powerful and killing all but one of its members, and
destroying their homeworld, Fenecia, in the process.
Now the Elders are training a new group of soldiers to overthrow the Overlords.
They set up mock-combat simulations on various worlds, allowing soldiers from all over
the Universe to participate, in the hopes of finding those worthy enough to
build New Fenecia, and rid the Universe of the Overlords. This new clan,
the Dragon Talon Mercenaries, follows the Code of Honour once written by the
old Order, upon Mount Aarutan.
We are warriors of honour and virtue.
Each one of us is a small part of a greater whole, which can never be seperated, nor destroyed.
We all pledge our lives to the defense of the Elders and our homeworlds - and
should we be beaten down to our last warrior, we shall rebuild again, and retake
that which is rightfully ours. Sacrifice is our greatest gift to our fellow
warrior, and we will always guard his life as he will guard our own. For the
true strength of a warrior is not his battle skills, but his ability to
place his own glory aside and fight for the greater cause.

As a DTM member, it is required that you always fight for the team. Never
can you play for your personal score while wearing the DTM tag. You MUST play
with honor and good sportsmanship. |
As a member of the DTM you are also an Ambassador for the DTM, and as such
you are expected to act like one. People remember bad things much more then
they do good things. Sometimes someone can really get under your skin. We
are all human, but please try and refrain from replying to people who are
flaming you. Your response is exactly what they want. Try and not give them
the satisfaction. |
You will find the mute function in tribes very handy. Remember that with
everything you do people will tend to remember the DTM next to your name and
associate it with either Team Players or morons. I'm sure most of you agree
you would prefer to be known as a Team player, as opposed to a moron. |
If you enter a game in progress, the first thing you should do is ask, "Where
am I needed?" If no one responds then use your head and do what the team needs
as opposed to what you would like to do. Help where needed, be it flag running
or repairing power. With team work there is no job that is more important
then the other. If you did not get one flag cap because all you did was fix
solar panels, but your team won the game, then you won the game as well. Remember
that Tribes does not display personal scores at the end of a match, only the
teams' scores. |
Members are encouraged to swap sides to help out a side that is getting whipped.
A hard won victory is a sweet victory. There is no challenge if each mission
results in a shutout. Thus, if the other side is getting hammered you are
permitted (and encouraged) to change sides to help out without concern for
the players per team balance. It has been pointed out that with a majority
of DTM members on one team the other side tends to get waxed. In this situation,
it is expected that the DTM on that server balance out their numbers amongst
the teams and try to organize a number of other people to balance the sides
both numerically and skill-wise. |
Members who are either voted-admin or super-admin on a public server are
required to act honorably. Remote-killing enemies, teleporting friendlies,
or unjustified kicking of players all violated the very spirit of the game,
and of the DTM. As an administrator, you are expected to act fairly and honorably
to everyone, while also dealing swiftly and firmly with negative elements
in the game. |
No flame wars will be tolerated on public forums. Failure to abide by this
requirement may result in your being banned from the forum in question, and
may furthermore result in internal disciplinary action. However, constructive
criticism is encouraged. That is one of the reasons the forums exist. Use
them well. |
Other forum-related questions should be directed to the forum administrators.
Currently, this position is occupied by Gryphon. |
Please do not be disruptive, as meaningful conversations often occur. Utilization
of any type of bot or script that interferes with normal channel operation
will not be tolerated. If you spam the channel or disrupt conversation, you
will be asked to discontinue it. Failure to do so may result in your being
kicked and/or banned from the channel, and may furthermore result in internal
disciplinary action. |
Other IRC-related questions should be referred to the channel administrator.

Do not sponsor someone because they are a friend or a fellow Tribe member.
Only sponsor those applicants you know from first hand experience to be Team
Players. Do not sponsor applicants based on their skill in combat. We must
all remain cognizant that a DTM member creates good games, good playing atmospheres,
and at all times displays good sportsmanship. Please read the guidelines
on sponsoring applicants. Conflict resolution within the applications process
is currently handled by Jester. |
Sponsorship should be based on |
- The applicant's willingness to learn.
- The applicant's willingness to teach and mentor.
- The applicant's sportsmanship and attitude.
- The applicant's team effort.
|
Please note that the DTM has adopted a policy to disallow all sponsorships
that are from the applicants existing Tribe members. This means that no sponsors
may be awarded from members of the same Tribe as the applicant. |
In the unfortunate case that you witness an applicant engaging in behavior
unbecoming a DTM, you are expected to vote no to their application. To do
this you must post *NO* and then a clear explanation why the no-vote was given.
Please do not post a flame. Note that a clear explanation and a proposed solution
to correct whatever they are doing wrong is mandatory, or the no-vote will
be discarded. |
After a no-vote has been cast, the applicant's thread will be open to all
opinions and suggestions. If the no vote is not removed and the applicant
feels he is being unfairly treated than they are to contact Jester
for review. The only person who may remove the no-vote is the member who cast
it, or the DTM membership, after suitable review. Otherwise, the rejected
applicant is free to reapply for membership after a two-week waiting period.
The applicant is to be considered as having a clean slate and should be given
a fresh start by all. Please remember that we all make mistakes be it in what
we do or what we think we have seen. DTM members and applicants alike can
suffer from this, so please strive to be both honorable and mature in your
actions and words. |
Whether you intend to sponsor or no-vote an applicant, please do so only
if you have been playing with the applicant for a suitable amount of time.
Please do not give your sponsorship or no-vote after just one game with an
applicant. To do so is unfair to both them and to the DTM. |
DTM members are selected based on their desire to assist in making Tribes
the team game it was designed to be. As such, as a DTM member, we value honor,
integrity and fairness in all that we do while engaged in our activities.
DTM members are accepted as, and encouraged to participate in, other organized
Tribes. It is within these groups that Tribes players, both DTM members and
others, compete in various organized ladders, competitions and events. |
Please note that is not the DTM's responsibility or desire to manage how
organized Tribes or their members behave. There is a major separation in the
two entities and rightfully so. The DTM maintains and will continue to maintain
sovereignty over its member's behavior in public gaming environments, but
it cannot and will not be held responsible for a member's actions while engaged
in organized Tribal events, discussions and actions. |
For example, should a member, on behalf of their Tribe, choose to abandon
or betray an allied Tribe in an organized ladder, they may not be held in
violation of the DTM Code of Conduct, as they were only role-playing the actions
of their Tribe. |
Problems arise in many and varied situations. This is human nature, and is
expected. However, the DTM cannot and will not allow conflict to destroy that
which has taken so much effort by so many to create. If problems arise between
members, the issue is to be addressed with an email to Gryphon
before a member makes any public statements regarding the conflict. If the
conflict merits a vote in which the membership should be involved we will
call it to vote in the Voting section of this site. |
In the event of you viewing an act of bad form, do not immediately post it.
Take 24 hours to cool down, as you cannot think clearly when you are angry.
Then think about what actually happened some more, and determine if it was
as bad as you originally thought it was. You are also encouraged to contact
the member in question and discuss the matter privately with them. When the
24 hours are up, if you still have something to say, and were unable to resolve
the issue with the member in question, describe what you saw in the private
DTM forum, and then state your opinions on the matter. If you feel further
action is necessary, please email Gryphon
with full details and the issue will be addressed promptly. |
In the case of you viewing an excellent bit of team play, post it immediately
in the DTM
Sightings forum with names and descriptions of the honorable work. Team
players should be recognized and praised for their actions. Be they in the
DTM, TPG, an independent Tribe, or unattached, their stories should be told
to all. That is what we are here for: the fun in the amazing universe of Tribes. |
You will receive a message from Gryphon
explaining the infraction. You will have an opportunity to respond and justify
your actions. Otherwise, the infraction will be considered as a one-time incident.
However, a record will be kept of the infraction. |
Frequent or more severe violations of the Code of conduct may merit additional
actions. Possible penalties include censure, probation, or possible expulsion
from the organization. Note that violations of the Forum or IRC sections may
carry their own penalties in addition to the ones outlined above. These penalties
must be resolved with the appropriate administrator, as detailed above. Non-organizational
penalties, such as being kicked or banned from a game server, may also be
applied, and must be resolved between the administrator imposing the penalty
and the violator. |
The DTM membership reserves the right to alter, modify, add, or delete from this code as
needed. Any changes to the code will be announced promptly in our
Announcements forum and
will be upheld by our membership. It is the responsibility of all members to know our Code of
Conduct, as it binds us all together, and allows us to exist harmoniously as an organization.
Ignorance of our Code of Conduct will not be allowed as an excuse for misbehavior, for it is
every member's responsibility to know and follow our code so long as they retain their
membership. |
This Code of Conduct was borrowed from the TPG, and we honor and respect all of the hard
work Santa and Smedley have put into it. We also thank them for giving us permission to modify
its content and to use if for keeping peace and honor within our own organization. |
